Summer Vacations Scheme - Governance, Risk and Regulation

Entry Requirements

Our requirements vary for a few specialist roles and therefore before you apply we recommend that you review the specific academic requirements on the vacancy job description.

Applications for our Summer Vacation Scheme will close on a rolling basis when we have enough applications. We therefore advise that you apply as soon as possible so that you don’t miss out on securing a role.

Requirements & Qualifications

You will need to be in your penultimate year at university studying towards a 2:1 or above in any degree discipline at a UK University and due to graduate in September 2022, as well as achieved at least 260 UCAS points for your A levels (or equivalent), at least a grade 4 (C) in English language and at least a grade 5 (B) in Maths in your GCSEs (or equivalent).

Your opportunity

So many paths are open to you in Risk Advisory. You can choose to specialise in a broad range of business or technological competencies.

  • Extended Enterprise Risk Management (EERM): You’ll help clients manage the risks associated with their vital third party relationships, from customers and suppliers, to distributors, licensees and franchisees. Working with senior people in many different businesses, you’ll deliver tangible solutions that help them maintain brand integrity and boost revenue.
  • Risk & Regulation: In this market leading team, you’ll support top tier financial institutions in managing change. You’ll work with other Deloitte teams, across the world, and with the most senior level client people, helping them achieve the right balance between meeting regulatory requirements and running a commercially successful business.
  • Strategic Regulatory and Operations Risk (SRO): You’ll work with a hugely diverse list of clients, helping them manage the challenges they face every day, relating to risk, compliance, and effective controls. You’ll provide confidence and insights on everything from the sustainability of their business to the technology they use. Helping to drive better business performance.
  • Finance, Operations and Support: We work with a broad range of corporate and public sector organisations. Our clients are diverse in scale, industry and location, with each providing new insights into Finance and wider business issues. Projects vary from a few weeks to several months (and occasionally years!).  Our team have the skills to address issues across all elements of Finance functions, ranging from helping clients design an effective Finance operating model, adopt digital Finance solutions, deliver best in class Finance processes, prepare insightful management reporting, implement new Financial Reporting Standards, support mergers and acquisitions, achieve a faster monthly close or improve working capital.

Your professional experience

  • This is a hands on placement, where you will work very much as a part of the wider team, and you will work on both client and firm sites.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to take full ownership of delivering a piece of client work, and will engage directly with both client and internal stakeholders.
  • You’ll spend time shadowing one of our senior members of the team whilst they deliver client meetings, including developing of market opportunities.
  • You’ll have the opportunity to get involved in proposals and business development activities with our team.
  • This is a great opportunity to get some real life work experience, build your skills and networks and potentially secure a full time role at the end of your placement.

The Compliance & Operational Risk team offers clients a range of services to help them manage conduct of business, corporate governance and operational risk issues and to help them comply with regulatory requirements.

Deloitte has built a market leading team that supports top tier financial institutions in managing and implementing change, driven by new regulatory and strategic risk management objectives.

The team specialises in providing innovative advice and solutions whilst assisting clients with balancing the need for regulatory compliance and commercial considerations. Our team develops and implements RegTech solutions to supplement our clients’ current risk management processes.

Your professional experience

  • Reputation, Crisis & Resilience: Be there for clients when they need you most. Whether it’s a cyber attack, natural disaster, product failure, or other crisis, you’ll support senior leaders through the event. You’ll help them minimise the impact on their business and advise on how to prepare for worst-case scenarios.
  • Risk & Regulation: In this market leading team, you’ll support top tier financial institutions in managing change. You’ll work with other Deloitte teams, across the world, and with the most senior level client people, helping them achieve the right balance between meeting regulatory requirements and running a commercially successful business.
  • Strategic Regulatory and Operations Risk (SRO): You’ll work with a hugely diverse list of clients, helping them manage the challenges they face every day, relating to risk, compliance, and effective controls. You’ll provide confidence and insights on everything from the sustainability of their business to the technology they use. Helping to drive better business performance.
  • Risk Analytics: Whether you’re a data scientist, mathematician or industry expert, you’ll straddle the technical and non-technical sides of business in the UK’s largest Risk Analytics practice. Our team solves a huge variety of data-related issues, from analysing sports performance to helping protect people’s savings to improving efficiency in the NHS.
  • Technology Digital Risk (TDR): Could you help clients make the most of digital technology? We provide risk intelligent solutions, advice and managed services. You’ll be involved in all kinds of projects from digital transformation to reviewing current programmes to designing new GRC (governance, risk management and compliance) systems.

Your professional experience

As a Summer Vacation Student within Risk Advisory you will have the opportunity to rotate within the Service Line across our team teams to support them and develop your skills through:
