Our projects include IT Auditing, Analytics and Data Analysis, Digital Risk, Programme Assurance, Payment and Operational Resilience, Governance, Risk and Compliance… and much more!

Your professional experience

Technology and digital transformation is at the core of business strategy, enabling organisations to exploit competitive advantages and keep pace with market disruptors. As dependency on technology increases so does technology and digital risk, unless it is adequately managed.

The team is divided into a two sector focus, as detailed below:

  • In TDR CPS (Corporate and Public Sector), we serve clients ranging from public bodies, such as governmental departments, to businesses operating within the private sector including but not limited to Telecommunications & Media, Life Sciences, Oil & Gas and Retail. Our work is driven by our clients’ need for assistance with, or assurance over, the complex and shifting nature of IT risks arising throughout their business operations.
  • In TDR FS (Financial Services), our primary focus is to help our clients manage their various technology risks, to take advantage of the benefits of innovative new technology, support their digital transformation and better manage their legacy technology through risk intelligent solutions, assurance, advisory and managed services. Our clients include the banking, insurance and investment management sectors.

There are lots of different types of work we do across both sectors, which will allow you to explore lots of areas:

  • IT External Audit: We work with the Audit part of our firm to understand the risks that technology poses to the processing of financial transactions and the production of the financial statements. You’ll learn the core of how businesses work and their key processes which will give you a great baseline for all other advisory work we do across the team. We also offer all students the chance to take the ACA (Chartered Accountancy qualification) which helps with this too.
  • IT Internal Audit:As subject matter advisors or as part of outsourced / co-sourced Internal Audit functions, we help organisations evaluate and address risks related to information technology including applications, systems, networks and infrastructure.
  • Third Party Assurance: We help organisations with addressing regulator and marketplace demand to manage third-party risk through our third-party readiness and attestation services.
  • Analytics: We help organisations with exploring data to discover and analyse patterns, identify anomalies, profile, and reveal relationships from large sets of client data.
  • Digital Risk: We help organisations take advantage of the benefits of innovative new technology, support their digital transformation and better manage their legacy technology through risk intelligent solutions, advisory and managed services.
  • Program/Project Review: We help organisations review their technology project and program portfolio and provide senior stakeholders with an accurate, independent view on program status and progress.
  • Payments: The payments market across the globe is undergoing significant disruption and the current dominance of traditional financial institutions has come under threat due to changing consumer preferences, regulatory and industry interventions and technology-enabled intervention. Our team helps manage the risks associated with these changes and enables organisations to take advantage of new opportunities presented.

Your opportunity

Tax Consulting is all about solving complex intellectual challenges. We help our clients make the right business decisions, on a worldwide scale, by working collaboratively and creatively. Which means you get to see the bigger picture and become an expert in your specialist field.

Business Tax: It’s our job to make complex tax issues understandable for senior stakeholders and decision makers. From day one, you’ll work closely with clients – big and small - across all industries, on every aspect of their corporate tax. You’ll help companies deal with an increasingly complex and rapidly evolving tax landscape. We also deliver large-scale, international projects, as the tax experts in a multidisciplinary team. In contrast, our Private Client Services sector provides tax advisory and compliance services to high net worth individuals, which includes domestic business owners and a high number of non-UK nationals, whose tax affairs can be complex. Finally, we offer the opportunity for you to join our US corporate tax team, based in London you will deliver on large corporate and partnership transactions, restructurings and sizeable US tax compliance engagements for multinational clients.

Indirect Tax: As an Indirect Tax professional, you’ll get to know all aspects of your client’s business and advise them on business-critical events. Much of this is rooted in law. This means that a big part of your job will be researching legislation and case law and relating it to clients, so you can find effective solutions for them. You could help clients navigate everything from Brexit to ’Trade Wars’ working in our Global Trade Advisory area, and all the uncertainties in-between including their tax systems and technology working within our Compliance & Technology area. Wherever you specialise, you’ll become an expert in customs, global trade, VAT, landfill tax and other indirect taxes that affect businesses, minimising the costs for clients, whenever, wherever and however they do business.

Tax Management Consulting (‘TMC’): Our TMC team has a market-leading reputation in the UK and beyond, and we are the largest integrated tax process and technology team of the Big 4. Joining the TMC team will give you access to senior leadership across the myriad of industries and markets within the UK, and internationally. In our team you will gain consulting, technology and outsourcing experience, to help businesses meet the challenges of multi-jurisdictional tax operations, including compliance, reporting and risk management for direct and indirect taxes. Your advice will help clients enhance their tax and finance operations through the transformation of their processes, technology and resourcing models and where appropriate offer global outsourcing capabilities. This helps tax departments to meet key objectives for quality and control in a way that also creates value for their organisation. You will develop strong relationships with clients, becoming a trusted advisor and will build an understanding of how different types of businesses and structures operate.
