Your role will be primarily based in London, however your foundation training will take place in the Cardiff office lasting around 4 weeks, typically from Monday to Friday. This will take place at the start of your Programme. You may also be expected to travel periodically to other offices and client sites.

Requirements & Qualifications

You will need to have obtained or studying towards at least 260 UCAS points (pre 2018 A level results) or 104 UCAS points (2018 A level results) (or equivalent). You must have achieved at least a grade 4 (C) in English language and at least a grade 6 (B) in Math (or equivalent) and be ready to join us in September 2020.

As a BrightStart within Quality & Risk you will be responsible for enabling the firm to do business, while proactively managing risk to protect our clients, people, assets and data. This apprenticeship will give you such a breadth of risk and security training and experience that you will quickly become a well-rounded risk professionalwith many strings to your professional bow. The rotational programme will covers many specialisms including:

  • Conflicts
  • Financial Crime
  • Personal and Firm Independence
  • Deloitte Business and Security
  • Strategy and Operations
  • Contentious Matters
  • Service Line Risk teams (Audit & Assurance and Consulting)

Professional Study

You will be expected to study for a professional course whilst you work. You will initially complete a Level 3 certificate incompliance and then work towards a Diploma (Level 6). You will cover areas including Anti-Money Laundering, Governance, Risk and Compliance and Financial Crime Prevention. You will be provided 1 study day a week to focus on working towards your professional qualifications.

Your professional experience

Each working week brings new and distinct challenges. You’ll get involved in all kinds of tasks, from research to helping with key decisions around client engagement. Of course, there are some key activities that apprentices will do on a regular basis, depending on the role. These include:

  • Research, typically using IT and web-based tools.
  • Monitoring, managing and supporting the process for accepting new clients and work.
  • Managing mailbox or workflow, answering queries or escalating them to the right person.
  • Data entry of internal or client information, on various systems.
  • Reviewing materials and information and preparing reports/memos.
  • Supporting various projects working with colleagues.
  • Presenting information to more senior members of the teams and helping them make informed decisions.
  • Business administration tasks and other ad hoc duties as required.
  • Getting to know your colleagues and learning loads from them.

Your opportunity

  • Deloitte’s Extended Enterprise Risk Management (EERM) practice assists businesses to identify and manage risks arising through contractual relationships with suppliers, business partners, and other third parties. EERM delivers tangible solutions to clients through the key areas of Third Party Advisory (TPA), Business Partner Assurance (BPA), Software License Compliance (SLC) and Software Asset Management (SAM).
  • You will be involved in learning and delivering work across industries and you will become a key player of projects and gradually trained to take on ownership of projects with the opportunity to work across all propositions within EERM. An example would be learning to lead data analysis on a licensee’s quarterly royalty reporting to our client.

Your professional experience

  • Our training programme has been designed to cover the basics of the different third party relationships an organisation may have across different industries, the drivers which affect behaviours of business partners, suppliers and customers and the operational processes and control required by an organisation.
  • Working on projects on how to automate our work, what industries we are yet to tackle and finding innovative solutions for how we operate are some of the key things you will play a part in as we grow further into a world which is heavily influenced by artificial intelligence, block chain, robotics etc.
  • You will also have the opportunity to work with key stakeholders from across the client’s organisation and there will be opportunities to travel within the UK, and globally.
  • At EERM, no two days are the same. You may be dealing with third party queries one day, and off to visit a client the next. You will have the opportunity to work across different industries, learning about a wide variety of businesses and cultures. There is a good work life balance, and plenty of opportunities to socialise with members of the team (and the extended Deloitte network).

  • Extended Enterprise Risk Management (EERM): You’ll help clients manage the risks associated with their vital third party relationships, from customers and suppliers, to distributors, licensees and franchisees. Working with senior people in many different businesses, you’ll deliver tangible solutions that help them maintain brand integrity and boost revenue.
  • Strategic Regulatory and Operations Risk (SRO): You’ll work with a hugely diverse list of clients, helping them manage the challenges they face every day, relating to risk, compliance, and effective controls. You’ll provide confidence and insights on everything from the sustainability of their business to the technology they use. Helping to drive better business performance.
  • Managed Solutions: Want to design, build and run large-scale managed services for major clients? You’ll be helping them streamline operations and manage risk, as well as plan for the future. We use the most innovative technologies here, including AI and robotics to address clients’ most significant business challenges.
